We are excited to announce that Saint Paul's Mustard Seed Farms, formerly in Newberg for many years, known and loved for its community garden, organic vegetables and absolutely enormous pumpkins, is re- launching its CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). If you have wanted to support a local farm and eat fresh, delicious organic vegetables affordably this is a great chance for you.
You can only sign up when the current year's forms are on the site. Generally the forms are update by sometime in February of each year. You can join the summer program through June of each year. We will take winter members until November 1st of each year.
How does a CSA work?
A CSA is a subscription program where customers sign up and pay the farm in advance for a weekly share of that season's vegetables. This helps the farmer to know how much produce to grow and gives him the resources to do it. The farmer and the customer both share in the risk and the benefits of the season.
What will I get?
A summer share of Mustard Seed's CSA will get you certified organic produce every Tuesday from the beginning of July through the end of October. Mustard Seed Farms will deliver vegetables to North Valley Friends Church in Newberg, where you can come get your allotment of vegetables, often with the option to choose between offerings.
Naturally, the available vegetables will follow our growing season. The variety and choices you will have at the beginning of July will be slimmer than from August on, but you will always get plenty of the tastiest, freshest vegetables around. And come September and October, you will be taking home a tremendous variety! You will also have the opportunity to join Mustard Seed Farms' winter season, which will run November through March, delivering to Newberg every other week.
Here is a breakdown of our two growing seasons and the produce that is available in each:
