Almost ready to kick off the 2009 season!

April 28th, 2009

A big thank you to everyone for your patience as you awaited the 2009 Community Garden information. We have worked on it in spurts as we have been doing our spring seeding and now transplanting. The first plantings of lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower are in the ground as of yesterday. Onions, the crop many of you will spend time on, will go into the ground as soon as the weather breaks again.

On the attached sheets you will see a more detailed explanation of how the CG works, in order to clarify it for all, and to educate the new members. Speaking of new members, we have had an unprecendented number of inquiry’s about the CG this year. It must be a combination of you former member’s enthusiasm and probably the economy. You will also notice the first price increase in probably 10 years.

There is a limited amount of hoeing to be done in some flower beds and the small patch of strawberries, if you want to work right away. For most though, your work will start in June.
