July Garden News

July 30th, 2009

Here we are in the middle of the summer and a heat wave is coming. All the crops are doing well this year, so we will keep the water going steadily on them especially this next week.

Thanks for all of your work on the crops. We hope you are not seeing onions in your sleep since many of you have spent a lot of hours weeding them! We had to bring in more help this week to get caught up on the hoeing of the winter squash, pumpkins, and potatoes. Many are putting in time regularly to get their hours in, and a few even have their hours done. Well done!

There are more veggies becoming available now, so check in each week. We now have: green beans (u-pick), chiogga beets, broccoli at times, green & red cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, lettuce, and summer squash.

Canning quantities of beans are available all the time now. Call to schedule picking your pickling cucumbers. We will let you know when other volume items are ready.
